About Who Gives a Vote
Who Gives a Vote is a weekly political podcast and blog covering the decisions that shape everyday life on the Fraser Coast and across regional Queensland — and the state and federal calls that flow down to communities like Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg.
Our approach is simple: politics without protection. We take a hard look at Local, State and Federal decisions and go beyond the press release and the party line. Our focus isn’t on who made a decision — it’s on who has to live with it. No allegiance to politicians. No favours traded. No punches pulled. Just clear, independent scrutiny of power and its real-world impact.
What we do
Who Gives a Vote (Live) streams every Thursday at 5:30pm on YouTube, bringing the team together to work through the week’s political and civic issues — with an emphasis on context, accountability and open discussion rather than slogans.
Who Gives a Chat is our longer-form interview series, where a regular contributor sits down with a guest — councillors, community leaders and others — to talk through local issues, leadership and the realities of politics beyond the headlines.
The blog goes deeper in writing, unpacking legislation and local decisions in detail for anyone who wants more than a headline.
Our focus
We pay closest attention to the things that are easy to miss: council decisions, planning and development, state legislation, and the federal debates that reach into regional life. That means the Fraser Coast Regional Council and Bundaberg Regional Council, the Queensland Parliament, and the national stories that land hardest at home.
Who’s behind it
Who Gives a Vote is made by a small team of locals who care about the region and believe in asking better questions. Our panels bring together different views and backgrounds, because scrutiny works best when it isn’t an echo chamber.
